Positive Intelligence
- Author: Shirzad Chamine
- A lot of time and energy gets wasted in negative self-chatter.
- This book /names/ and identifies different types of negative thoughtss, and helps tackle them.
- Saboteurs:
- Judge, primary -- judges every action, your own and others'
- Hyper achiever
- Hyper vigilant -- always looking for problems
- Hyper rational
- Victim
- Restless
- Avoider
- Stickler
- Controller
- Pleaser
- Options to tackle them, through the "Sage"
- Empathize -- visualize yourself/others as a child, triggering feelings of protection, value, etc.
- Explore -- blameless autopsy, fascinated anthropologist (particularly to side-step negative emotion)
- Innovate -- apply "yes, and" to figure out new ideas without judgement
- Navigate -- look back from the end of <life/work/project/etc.>, and decide the course of action
- Activate -- pre-empt saboteurs with planning
- Think through things from both the concrete "what is being said" but also the emotional sense; a lot of what needs to happen goes through that channel.
- Videos -- meditation videos
- Feels like a mix of CBT, Meditation, Mindfulness by different, catchier names -- but an easy read that resonates well. With some good techniques to think through things well.
